VWR, based in Radnor, Pennsylvania, provides products, services, and solutions for the laboratory and production needs of customers in the pharmaceutical, biotech, education, government, and healthcare industries. It established the VWR Charitable Foundation in 2009 to give back to the scientific community, and has donated more than $1.5 million to programs and organizations aligned with VWR and the foundation’s strategic priorities: advancing science education, improving the health and well-being of those in need, and researching new drug and treatment possibilities. Every year, the company leads a regional sales organization competition, and each winning team can name a donation recipient. This year, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society was one the selected groups and received $20,000. The Society’s mission is to one day see a world free of multiple sclerosis (MS) and, until then, to help people with MS better manage and treat their disease. Its three main goals are to: Guarantee that people have effective treatment choices and solutions to the challenges of living with MS; Guarantee that people affected by MS can connect to the people, information, and resources they need to live a quality life; and Guarantee that individuals and organizations are mobilized to generate resources that accelerate progress and maximize impact. The other organizations recently receiving VWR Foundation donations are the SickKids Foundation ($25,000), the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society ($40,000), the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta ($5,000), and St. Jude Children’s Hospital ($10,000). “We are honored to once again have the opportunity to support organizations like these and help make a difference,” Jim Bramwell, VWR Foundation president, said in a press release. “We applaud the ongoing efforts made by members of VWR’s sales team, who continue to help us reach our giving goals.” More information on foundation grants and the application process is available through this link.
