The first standalone forum held by the Madison, Wisconsin-based Americas Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ACTRIMS) gets underway on Thursday, Feb. 18 and runs through Feb. 20 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The forum ‘Progressive MS: From Bench to Bedside and Back’, is at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans at 601 Loyola Ave.

The ACTRIMS Forum 2016 is providing an opportunity for researchers and clinicians in the multiple sclerosis (MS) field to learn about cutting-edge discoveries in the pathogenesis and management of the disease from world-renowned experts, to discuss advances in development of serological and imaging markers of disease progression, and learn about the latest and ongoing clinical trials on neuroprotective, neuroregenerative, and immunomodulatory agents for MS.

Goals of the meeting

  • To critically examine current research on the pathogenic mechanisms that contribute to CNS injury and disability accumulation in progressive MS
  • To discuss biomarkers that reflect and/or predict CNS damage, clinical course or responsiveness to treatment
  • To synthesize emerging data from recently completed and ongoing clinical trials in progressive MS
  • To identify future directions for the investigation and development of neuroprotective and neuroregenerative therapies in MS
  • To provide mentorship to trainees and junior faculty interested in a career in MS research and/or clinical practice
  • To ensure that research findings are disseminated to various stakeholder groups including MS care providers, researchers, news media outlets, social media, and patient advocacy groups

Reasons to attend
