In this video from Roche, multiple sclerosis (MS) patient and advocate Shana and her partner Leo talk about the unpredictability of the condition. Shana explains that no two days are the same when you’re living with the disease.

The 37-year-old from Brighton, U.K., was diagnosed with MS at the age of 28. Shana says one of the most difficult things about living with the disease is how unpredictable it can be. Planning when you have MS is tricky and you need people around you who are understanding and supportive. The fatigue and pain associated with MS can strike at any time, often rendering people unable to work or attend social events.

Shana and Leo discuss how they don’t let MS become the center of their lives. While Shana has to live with the disease, she doesn’t let it define who she is.
