Processed Foods and Additives May Lead To MS, Autoimmune Diseases

Processed foods have been added to the list of “no-no” items that we are not supposed to eat if you, like me, are unfortunate enough to have MS. We were already warned against gluten, salt and various other ingredients in our diet; now it’s processed foods and additives.

This is because research says that additives commonly used in processed foods can cause damage to the intestinal tolerance and immunity balance. This appears to be a knock-on effect of the food additives seriously harming the tight junctions that protect the intestinal mucosa, also called the gastric mucosa, which is the lining of the gastrointestinal tract.

The immunity balance is important as it works to prevent multiple sclerosis and other autoimmune diseases.

As the incidence of autoimmune disease continues to rise around the world, according to a variety of authorities, so both processed food and food additive industries continue to grow.

Professor Aaron Lerner, of the Technion Faculty of Medicine and Carmel Medical Center, in Haifa, Israel, and a lead author of the study that led to this latest warning, said: “In recent decades there has been a decrease in incidence of infectious diseases but, at the same time, there has been an increase in the incidence of allergic diseases, cancer and autoimmune diseases.

“Since the weight of genetic changes is insignificant in such a short period, the scientific community is searching for the causes at the environmental level,” he said.

Avoid Processed Foods

The result of the study: “Changes in intestinal tight junction permeability associated with industrial food additives explain the rising incidence of autoimmune disease,” was published in the journal Autoimmunity Reviews.

Now, I am an MS patient with knowledge of the disease at that level, so there is no way I am qualified to plough through all the technical scientific language. However, I can say that with all the information gathered on this subject, the researchers recommend that autoimmune disease patients, and their family members, avoid processed foods as much as possible.

“Control and enforcement agencies, such as the U.S.A.’s Food and Drug Administration, stringently supervise the pharmaceutical industry, but the food additive market remains unsupervised enough. We hope this study and similar studies increase awareness about the dangers inherent in industrial food additives and raise awareness about the need for control over them,” Professor Lerner concluded.

Anyone for dinner? Nothing processed, though.

    Any food with a label may have hidden gluten/dairy/soy/sugar/GMO/bad fats/chemicals/pesticides/colorings etc. Certified gluten free food may have 20ppms of gluten. Gluten maybe also in nuts not sold in the shell/meat basting/some spices/air/ovens/cutting boards/make up and much more. Gluten may hurt intestines so less nutrients absorb…then cells are not made right to work right. Gluten may hurt the thyroid and other glands and lower B vitamins and good oils. Gluten may affect every cell of the brain/body and cause MS and many health issues. Detoxing may help and taking vitamins/good oils/minerals/probiotic. LDN may help block hidden gluten. Vit B12 methylcobalamin shot/Vit D3 5000IU/5000mcg of biotin/zinc/Mg/fish oil 2000mg/ evening primrose oil 2000mg/lecithin 2000mg/ HCl and enzymes with meals. Strong probiotic before a meal or at night when stomach acid is low. Coenzyme Q10/coenyzmated B vitamins/rhodiola/Amour thyroid/Bioidentical hormones/EDTA and DMPS IV chelation and currently herbal/ozone Lyme help…helps me. Avoiding vaccinations/drugs/chemicals/antibiotics help me. Eating organic pure foods/cooking own food/sunlight/exercise/good water and more help me.

        I had a chance to do Ultraviolet blood irradiation, but do Vit D3 and sunlight instead. It may help, but the other way works fine for me. Happiness…

      There is literally nothing bad about gluten unless you have celiac disease.

        Gluten may hurt most people. See Peter Osborne on Youtube and his book No Grain no Pain. See Wheat Belly book (gluten is more than wheat) and on Facebook. See Grain Brain book and Dangerous Grain book. Gluten/GMO may lower nutrients absorbed in intestines…then cells are not getting nutrients it needs to be made right and to burn food/oxygen. My MS is due to low oxgyen in my brain due to Celiac. Hair test show good mineral levels and heavy metals. If a person is not absorbing well in their intestines good minerals will be low and heavy metals maybe high. When I got microscopic gluten I did not absorb from food/supplements for 1 1/2 months until I healed from the hidden gluten. When I went 100% gluten free I had 1000X more energy in two weeks and felt 20 years younger. People maybe addicted to gluten like Heroin since it stimulates the same opioid receptor sites in the brain so they may crave it and not want to stop eating gluten. Food can be like a drug. Sugar may be like cocaine to the brain. When I fixed my diet my MS was suppressed. I need a strict diet and then I am ok. MS people can heal. Terry Wahl changed her diet and healed from her MS. LDN may help heal the gut lining as it blocks hidden gluten. My MS friend healed and got 2 jobs/new boy friend/went sky diving and rides on the back of a motor cycle/got her drivers license back and walks well. She changed her diet and has a new life. She wants to “have fun” after being in a wheel chair many years. MS people are healing fast as they change their diet. I would rather walk/be normal than eat a donut and other food which I see now as “poison”. I eat the Asian/Celiac diet…is very healthy/good tasting…pure organic food…very healthy.         Finally, an educated reply on all this gluten nonsense. As if cutting it out somehow cures MS. MS is partially hereditary, likely virally induced, and an environmental autoimmune disease. Just try not taking a DMD and just eating whole foods . This is exactly the same pseudoscience bandied about by Dr Wahl in her bid to sell more books and lectures.

    Hi, My Alternative doctor offers Ultra Violet blood irradiation, but I did not try it. I take Vit D3 5000IU and try to get more sunlight. He offers Hydrogen peroxide IV and Ozone IV. I am doing an ozone treatment…in vagina..easy way to do it and cheap. Ozone raises oxygen and kills microorganisms. I will do another ozone today. A person can do it twice a week. It lasts about 4 days in a person and each treatment may knock out more organisms and eventually they may be all gone. I also take AL complex and Crytolepis to help Lyme/coinfections and do Far Infrared Sauna which lowers heavy metals fast and kills Lyme/yeast/coinfections and EDTA/DMPS IV chelations which unclog my blood vessels and remove heavy metals/lower inflammation. I am glad there are other ways to help Lyme/infections since antibiotics hurt my gut lining/hurt my mitochondria, lowered my immune system and bacteria can become resistant to antibiotics so they don’t help. You can’t become resistant to the Sauna/ozone/Vit D3 etc. I like herbs for and don’t hurt. I need LDN to help my immune system and block hidden gluten. I eat no gluten/dairy/soy/sugar/GMO/bad fat/saturated fat/heated oils/meat etc I eat basically the Asian diet… raw walnuts/poached eggs/rice/organic veg/tea/good water etc. No gluten helps heal my intestines so they absorb more nutrients which rebuilds my cells to work right.
