      Hi Malea,

It sounds as if you have a wise physician. :-). As John has written, we have lots of info here but navigating the site can be a little confusing so please contact me or John if we can help.

      • My hobby is ham radio…I’ve been on the ham radio bands since 1961, when I was 12 years old. I use Morse code when I talk to other hams. It’s great for hand dexterity and de-coding the Morse in my head, as it’s set, keeps my brain sharp.

        Hi Antoinette,

Welcome to the MS forums. We’re glad to have you join us whether you have MS or not.

I’m sorry that you’ve been having the problems you’ve told us about. There are some symptoms that are similar between fibromyalgia and MS, such as the muscle spasms that you describe, but only a doctor can really make a diagnosis or suggest…

Here’s the MS news that caught my eye last week. What MS news have you seen? https://multiplesclerosisnewstoday.com/news-posts/2020/09/09/news-covid-19-survey-msvirtual2020-zeposia-b-cells/

        Hi Mary,

I’m glad you joined us here in the forums. I’m noticing that more and more people are being diagnosed with MS later in life, but I have no idea why that is. I’m 72, but I was diagnosed 40 years ago!

Anyway, I hope you’ll share some comments and questions in our topic forums. Also, here’s a shameless plug for a book that I just…

        Hi Heather,

Sorry for the delayed welcome. As John has said, my life is a little crazy right now.

First, social security disability. I’ve not had personal experience with it, fortunately, but based on comments that I’ve read over the years it’s very difficult to get. Many MS applicants are denied coverage and have to try multiple times. A…

          Hi Jessica,

Let me join John in welcoming you. It’s interesting that you mention lyme disease. Though I don’t know of any connection between it and MS I do know that their symptoms can be similar.

I hope you’ll jump in and share your comments and questions in some of our topic discussions.

P.S. I grew up in NYC and went to college in Ithaca. As they say in the ads, I Love New York.

              Hi Fred,

Welcome to the forums. You’ve come to the right place to find a lot of solid information about MS and all that goes with it.

I’ve been living with MS since 1980. I worked full-time in the news media until retiring at the end of 2012. Over the past forty years I’ve traveled to about 45 states and 16 or 17 countries.

              When I was…

              Hi Susan,

I’m glad you joined us in the MS forums and I hope you’ll find some answers to your concerns. I’m not a healthcare professional so I can’t give you medical advice but my own experiences may help you.

I’m also JCV positive. Most people are. I was also treated with Tysabri for about seven years. Tysabri is probably the DMT with the…

              Hi Claire,

Thanks for joining us in the MS forums. I’m sorry you’ve had such a terrible time trying to get diagnosed and treated, but I hope some of the info here will be useful to you.

I don’t know much about the NHS, since I’m on the other side of the pond, but John can certainly share his experiences with it. They might help you…

              Hi Don,

Let me add my welcome to John’s. It’s nice to have another MS old-timer here to share thoughts and comments. (I was DXed in 1980).

                Hi Liz,

It’s nice to have you join us here in the forums. It sounds as if you follow the theory that rather than hiding from the storm it’s better to learn to dance in the rain. Or, in your case, fly through it in your chair.

I’m sure others would like to hear about your paralympic experiences. How about filling us in by posting something…

                Hi Martin,

Welcome to the forums. I hope you’ll find some useful information here and will feel free to post comments and questions. If you need help please reach out to me or to co-moderator John Connor.

You say your MS is aggressive but you’re not being treated with any meds. Have you and your neuro discussed any?

                    • Lots of people use wearables like Fitbit to monitor how far the walk (if they can walk), their heart rate and other fitness metrics. Now here’s one that listens to your voice to judge how stressed you are. Is that ok, or would that stress you out? https://multiplesclerosisnewstoday.com/columns/2020/09/01/amazon-halo-wearable-fitness-watch-stress/

                      Hi Cathy,

Welcome to the MS forums. I think the course of your disease is similar to many of us. My symptoms were very mild for the first 20 years, or so. Then they slowly began to progress. There are much better treatments today to slow or even stop this progress than there were when I was diagnosed in 1980. So, hopefully you’ll be able to slow…[Read more]
