    Hi Anastasia,

We’re glad you joined us in the MS forums. I hope you’ll find some useful information here and will jump in and post questions and comments in some of our topic discussions.

I’ve lived with MS for over 40 years. My experience has been that an MS diagnosis is difficult to make and is best done with a combination MRIs of the…

  • Chris,

I can’t find any cancers listed as a side-effect on the Tysabri patient information website. However, a 10-year study of 6,148 people being treated with Tysabri, that ended in 2017, reported 12 cases of breast cancer (0.2%). https://www.tysabrihcp.com/en_us/home/patient-experience-data/observational-program.html

I do know that studies…[Read more]

    Hi Robert,

We’re really glad you joined us in the forums. Wow, you have me beat. I thought I was the “senior” in this group – 40+ years with MS and coming up on my 73rd birthday – but you sure have me beat.

I’m so glad to read that you’re “doing well.” That’s what it’s all about. Rather than hiding from the storm it’s much better than…

  • Hi Chris,

I’m very sorry to read of all of the medical problems you’ve had over the years. You sound like a tough woman and I applaud your positive attitude. I’ve been living with MS for a little over 40 years. Fortunately, it’s progressed slowly. I can still walk short distances with two canes but use an electric scooter a lot.

    Tysabri was…[Read more]

    Hi Jeff,

Welcome to the forum. From the little you’ve written I’m assuming you had a family member (parent?) who had MS. I hope we’re able to help you find whatever info you might now be seeking.

      Hi Mel,

Welcome to the forum. I hope you’ll find some answers here and if you can’t find what you’re seeking just ask. We’ll try our best to help, from the point of view of people who’ve lived with MS for a while. (40+ years for me.)

It’s okay to be a Tar Heal. My son was a Hokie but I’m not much of a basketball fan. :-).

          • My symptoms weren’t ignored but it took about a year, and two neurologists at a major university’s hospital, to diagnose me. (This was so long ago it was before the MRI machine was invented.) My wife, the Chief Physical Therapist at that hospital, diagnosed me before the neuros did.

I’m glad that you found our forum and hope you’ll find info here that will be useful to you and your husband. I’ve been living with MS for over 40 years so I know how overwhelming this diagnosis, and finding accurate information, can be. I hope we can help.

              Hi Sebastian,

It’s great to have you as a member of the forums. I hope you’ll share your unique point of view in some of our topic discussions, (though I understand the limitations that govt regulations may place on you because of your employer). How long have you been involved with people with MS?

                • That’s an interesting problem.

People go both ways with me. Mostly, folks ask if they can help me with things. That happens frequently when I’m lifting my little scooter out of the back of my SUV. As to clinging to handrails and bouncing from wall-to-walls…I use a pair of canes when I leave my scooter. So, it’s obvious that I have a disability…[Read more]

Welcome to our forums. I hope you’ll find useful information here.

We have a few caregivers as members and we have a separate topic section devoted to that subject. I hope you’ll share your comments, experiences and questions there.

I spend the winter in SW Florida. What part of the state are you in?

The National MS Society publishes Momentum magazine. They also have many booklets on specific MS topics available to download from their website.

The Multiple Sclerosis Association of America published The Motivator. In the UK the MS Society publishes MS Matters. I think all are available on-line and in print.
