Short Bio

Hi! I am happy to join this MS Forum. I have been reading the newsletter for some time but decided to take action after Ed Tobias posted the article today (2/5/19) about joining the forums. It’s about time for me to move ahead!

I was diagnosed in 1981 and took part in the Avonex Phase 2 double-blind study at the Oregon Health and Sciences University in 1992 in Portland, Oregon. I was one of the lucky ones as I was given the real medication! I remained on Avonex for years until I changed to Rebif. I remain on Rebif and I feel that it has been a stable medication for me.

I worked in an office setting until 4 years ago and I’m now enjoying time at home. It allows me to research MS online and it’s a busy time right now!

I feel so blessed to have this disease at this exciting period of time! When first diagnosed the only treatment for MS was prednisone infusions for active exacerbations. In 2019 we have amazing MS research being conducted, resulting in a variety of treatment options and many ways to increase a patient’s quality of life. It just requires a “little digging” on the Internet to find information that is interesting to each person.
