I was diagnosed in 1984 but I have symptoms in the mid 1970s. I was cutting a piece of metal and a piece traumatized my left eye. The next day I lost most of my vision. I had a MRI and that is when I was officially diagnosed.
in the 1990s I had about 6 exacerbations per year in that period. I would have an exacerbation recover after course of steroids but was left with additional disability. My last exacerbation was in 2003 that left me paralyzed from my waist down. Since then I have had no exacerbations. It seems to have burned out.
