    • Hi Audrey – welcome to the MS forum. In terms of the questions you raised in your joining form. Well, I’m 61 and can no longer walk! I left it far too long to get a wheelchair – I recount this in an old column of mine: https://multiplesclerosisnewstoday.com/2018/08/24/ms-take-a-seat-powered-wheelchair/ . I might now be a Co-Moderator of the Forum but I’m not going to miss a chance of punting my work!! Seriously I recommend you look into something like a scooter ASAP. You’ll find it liberating. If you want to raise your own questions my Co-Moderator Ed Tobias explains all at the top of the Welcome section. You can also dive in and add some answers of your own. Cheers John.
      • Hi Audrey,

Let me join John in welcoming you. I’m 71 years old (!) and was DXed in 1980. I’ve slowly progressed to the point where I use two canes and a Bioness L300 FES for short distances and a scooter for anything longer than about 100 steps. Buying the scooter was one of the best things I’ve done.

I worked, full-time, in the news media until retiring at the end of 2012. For both work and pleasure I’ve traveled to most US states and to 15 or 16 countries. I don’t fight my MS, I understand how to live with it.

I write about MS news and my personal experiences a couple of times each week for the MS News Today website. My column is called The MS Wire. You can find it here: https://multiplesclerosisnewstoday.com/category/the-ms-wire/ and scroll through my columns at your leisure.

        Best of luck,
