Short Bio

I have PPMS.  Officially diagnosed in September 2017.  I had a typical symptoms in 2010. Everyone, meaning providers and some family, stated that it was related to depression. So my symptoms abated after three months, and I moved on.  My symptoms restarted in 2016.  I had a tremendous time dealing with it. I saw multiple doctors including neurologists, pulmonologists, internal medicine and hematologist. I was referred to so many different places that I was exhausted.  After the fourth neurologist in Memphis with no diagnosis, I requested an appointment with the MS clinic at Vanderbilt. I was finally diagnosed. I have a atypical diagnoses of neurogenic bladder, neurogenic orthostatic hypotension and restrictive  lung disease related to neuromuscular disease. By the way, did I state that I was a nurse practitioner. Even with me being a provider, I had the most difficult time finding providers that actually followed through.  I was even having an abnormal examinations and diagnostic testing.  I don’t know how anyone without a strong advocate or knowledge would deal with everything.  So the one thing for the medical community, be an advocate for your patient. If you listen to your patient, they will tell you what’s wrong with them.
