As you probably know now, John, MS is different for all of us. My experience and what I have read differs from what you mentioned in your blog above. I was 54 when I was diagnosed. I had one major symptom that led me to the doctor and diagnosis. I was on medication for 12 years. Then I read that after 12 years of medications and no MS progression some MS patients can come off medication. I also read that MS relapses are sometimes much less after the age of 65. But other than that original symptom I had called transverse myelitis, I can’t say that I had any specific relapses in all this time except maybe a couple symptoms now and then like MS hugs. I had no clue that I would be diagnosed with MS before I was diagnosed. Anyway, I came off of medication when I turned 70. My neurologist agreed. I have an MRI every year. So far so good. Next one is this April. I also have overactive bladder but hard to know if it is the result of MS, having had 5 births, heredity, or old age or all of these. Right now I found a regime with medications that seems to be working much better. And that is my story. Best wishes for a safe and healthy Year.
I was forced off DMT’s as they had destroyed my immune system. ‘Stop in the Name of Leukocytes’: https://multiplesclerosisnewstoday.com/columns/2019/12/11/stop-in-the-name-of-leukocytes/. Mind u I’ve now had two relapse!
I also have an ‘overactive bladder’ – it is most def a symptom of MS! I’ve been taking the dreg Solifenacin – https://www.bladderandbowel.org/medicinal-treatment/solifenacin-succinate/ – for years to counteract
It. I really suggest u also consult a Urologist.
Cheers John
Good luck,
Ed
