    • Hi Susan,
Welcome – loads of info, research & experiences on here.
You can also start topics – my fellow moderator Ed Tobias explains ‘Posting Items’ at the top of each Forum.
As you’re new to MS sure you’ll first look at the ‘Newly Diagnosed Forum’. As one of the ‘Patient Columnists’ I wrote one sparked by a post ‘An Open Letter to a Newly Diagnosed Patient’ https://multiplesclerosisnewstoday.com/colum ns/2019/08/07/open-letter-advice-newlydiagnosedforums/
      Cheers John
PS Well done for joining something like our MS Forum so quickly – it took me ages!
PPS Pls ask your daughter to join – if u think it’s age appropriate..
PPPS Re steroids,. I’ve usually been given them in crisis. They certainly help in the short term. However the massive amount I’ve been given can only be prescribed once a year! Here’s a scientific paper on the use of steroids for MS: https://jnnp.bmj.com/content/74/9/1225
      • Hi Susan,

Thanks for joining us and I hope you’ll find info that will be useful. I’ve lived with MS for 40 years. I was treated with steroids when was first diagnosed and it did an excellent job of eliminating or reducing my symptoms. But it’s only a temporary fix. Treatment with a Disease Modifying Therapy (DMT) – and there are more than 20 of them – is usually ordered to try to slow or stop progression of MS.

I wish the best for your daughter. I encourage you, or her, to post questions in some of our forum topic areas. Feel free to reach out to me or co-moderator John Connor if you need help doing that.
