Hi Mary – Thanks for joining us in the forums. I hope you’ll join in and share your comments and questions in some of our forum topic discussions. It would be interesting to hear some of your thoughts about Mavenclad, especially compared to your six other DMTs. BTW, you’re just up the road from me. My wife and I live in Punta Gorda 7 months of the…[Read more]

Ed Tobias started the topic Is MS a pain in your hips? in the forum Living With MS 1 month, 3 weeks ago
A lot of people with MS have hip pain.
Did you know that it might be related to steroids often used to treat MS symptoms? Are you doing something to treat it?

Hi Deb,
Thanks for joining us in our forums. I was in the original Phase 3 clinical trial of Avonex back in the late 1990s and was then treated with it for about 7 years. I developed needle fatigue, wound up having my wife give me the shots and eventually changed DMTs to Tysabri, which was an easy treatment and much more effective than Avonex. I…[Read more]

Ed Tobias started the topic Have you had the MS hug? in the forum Living With MS 2 months ago
It’s the hug you don’t want. The MS hug can feel like your ribs are being crushed. It can feel like a heart attack.

Hi Sharon –
Wow, six months for an appointment is crazy. But, we’re happy you joined the forums and hope you’ll find useful info here. I encourage you to ask questions and make comments in our forum topic areas. Also, in case you’re interested, I’ve written a little book for MS “newbies.” It’s intended to fill the gaps left by the difficulty in…[Read more]

Jilly, Sorry about your new year. I hear you and absolutely know how you feel (probably better than anyone else). There are people who think they know what’s best for us. Sometimes they do have a clue but usually they don’t. I love that you’re making toys for kids in the hood, btw.

Ed Tobias started the topic Have you thought about your brain recently? in the forum Living With MS 2 months, 1 week ago
Brain shrinkage, or atrophy, is one of the silent symptoms of MS and it has a direct impact on brain “fog” and other cognitive issues. My neurologist says “time is brain.”. https://multiplesclerosisnewstoday.com/columns/2022/12/09/managing-brain-atrophy-multiple-sclerosis/
Has your neurologist talked with you about brain atrophy?

Not really. As a joke sometimes I type PPMS after my name. Both my sisters have letter after their names. I can see people scratching their heads lol.

Yes, I live in a democracy Ed. And no, my new year wasn’t very good. My sister, who thinks she knows what I should be doing ruined that day. She just can’t accept me being ok and making soft toys for the poor kids in my hood. I told her to lower her expectations of me as I will never reach them. Then told her to leave and to stay home. I am so…[Read more]

Neurologists have, for years, classified MS in four categories: CIS, RRMS, PPMS, and SPMS.
