• My symptoms

Hello everyone.  My name is Taylor, I am a 31 year old male and currently awaiting my neurologist appointment.

A little background. About 2 years ago I started experiencing pretty bad anxiety and depression.  I ended up having a brain MRI because of feeling what I called ‘brain fog’.   There was some non specific white matter but they said nothing seemed serious.

Fast forward to today…I’ve still been experiencing the brain fog.  I also have prettt bad joint pain in hips in knees.  I get this weird restless leg feeling where it feels really odd in my calf area and then my leg twitches.  I can always feel it coming.  My fatigue is also bad and I constantly feel tired during the day.

I was just curious if you guys have similar symptoms to this.  Especially the weird leg feeling..does that sound familiar?

    Thanks!

    I also forgot the mention:

my feet go numb frequently and also cramp up.  I also have trouble swallowing at times.

Hard to tell whether it’s just anxiety or not!

    Hi Taylor,

Thanks for joining the forums and taking part in our discussions.

It’s hard to say whether your symptoms indicate MS or not. I think you’ll find that MS is different for everyone. Fatigue is certainly a frequent symptom as are brain fog and  numbness. But they can also be symptoms of other things.

An MS diagnosis generally requires several different tests over a period of time. These include an MRI of the brain plus the neck and spine. There are specific physical examinations for walking, balance, strength, eyesight, reflexes etc. Also, a spinal tap may be used to confirm an MS diagnosis, or rule it out.

Hopefully, your neurologist is an MS specialist. I’ve found that a general neurologist doesn’t always see what a specialist will see.

    Best of luck to you,

    Ed
