At my level of disability, I have to have the help of another person at a minimum whenever I transfer. I usually use some sort of transfer aid too, and I have methods of doing both that are comfortable and familiar.

Anytime I’m at a medical facility and need to transfer, I feel like I’m having to instruct and coach other people on how to move me, both with mechanical aids and without. Since each person and their mobility issues are unique, the ways we transfer are different.

How do you tackle this issue?

I use a lift named Get – U – Up. I use it for everything… My wife transfers me (200 lbs.)… She’s small. It uses a harness that attaches around her waist and under the arms. Google it. Got questions let me know.

That looks like a pretty handy thing Mike. I don’t know that my wife would be able to lift me off the floor, but for transfers that looks like it would work great.

It works with a harness harness attaches around your waist. It goes under your arms and attaches to the left. The one I have is hydraulic (you gotta pump it up). I think the also electric ones. My wife assist me. She’s on the small side (5’2″ and approximately 115 LBS).
