  • Beer Consumption May Be Linked to MS Risk

    Calm, calm, calm.

Beer drinking maybe a risk in causing MS but there doesn’t seem to be any statistical risk in making it worse once you have it. Phew.

The overall data in the report illustrates recent studies have been very mixed.

Which is a relief as the occasional (OK mostly daily can of beer) is one of my few pleasures. Especially as I subscribe to a monthly beer curated micro-brewing club here in the UK. It sources worldwide. Have never had a beer chosen by them I didn’t like. Even such esoteric offerings as bubble-gum flavoured IPA. Who knew? Er, they did.

What would you find it hard to give up even though it was shown to make your MS worse? That would be probably true of any of you smokers.

I read your post before. This time I needed to reply. I enjoy an oil can (Fosters) most every day. I don’t believe I would give it up at this point.

I’m with you Mike. There would have to be overwhelming evidence that having a beer worsens multiple sclerosis before I would deny myself the pleasure.

I had to go back into this one since it’s starting to get warm here in the northern hemisphere and I’m already thinking about summer activities, possibly the beach, and sitting outside with a summer type cocktail in my hand.

My go-to summer drink over the years has always been gin and tonic. Now that I’m more sedentary and….. older, I have to limit myself to one or maybe two in the course of an evening, but in general, liquor doesn’t affect me the same way that beer does. I imagine it has something to do with the amount of carbonation affecting my digestion, or possibly the heaviness of the carbs,

    Anyone else?
