Down the Mousehole
Rarely, OK never, do I offer my own take on the latest research.
The majority of it is based on mouse experiments and it’s sort of been bugging me, If only ‘rodenting’ [sic] was a word!
There’s a major problem in that we’re so different that just because something works in a mouse there’s little chance in it working in us.
Should I flag this up when reporting on such results?

Researchers have been known to say: Mice lye, moneys exaggerate. That’s why I rarely write about a study until it’s in the clinical trial stage. If I do report an earlier study I try to make it clear, as you suggest, how preliminary the results are and why I’m taking the unusual step of writing about them.
