Lemtrada Warning on Safety & Cost
Following on Ed’s Lemtrada Ann. Post [preceding this one!] one of my health care professionals mentioned that my UK NHS region has stopped using it because of cost!
An extremely quick net search threw up these two doozies.
A report published by Global Justice Now, titled “Pills and profits – How drug companies make a killing out of public research” cites Lemtrada as being among these. It now costs £56,000 per treatment course, which is a 2140% price increase on it’s original price! In 2012 it cost £2500!!!!
The UK Gov last year also issued this health warning citing ‘serious cardiovascular and immune-mediated reactions‘.
As I posted to Ed I regret taking it. Anyone else?
