Managing MS in your life
Posted by Community Member on May 20, 2026 at 2:48 pmI thought this was posted the other day, but I wanted to see how people with MS are managing it. What is your approach? Has it changed since your diagnosis?

MemberMay 20, 2026 at 3:46 pmI guess I think of MS as a newspaper. There’s always a new issue everyday.
If it would just stay the same, then I could adjust so much easier. Currently you my doctor and I are adjusting how much muscle relaxer I take in a given day. We’re trying to find a good balance between spasticity control and function, but my levels of both have changed over the years and trying to find that balance is a never-ending task.
I’ve also been experimenting with diet over the last 10 months. I’m trying to find out what works best for me and eases certain symptoms. For instance, since MS has slowed my metabolism and speed of digestion, I’ve had to cut out anything fermentable, so gas doesn’t build up and bloat me. I also had to learn the difference between fermentable and fermented. If I ate a head of raw cabbage, I’d bloat up and be miserable, but sauerkraut is already fermented, so there’s no danger there and it provides great probiotics.

Love that you are trying this approach to your diet. Happy it’s been working and hopefully easing some symptoms. Also, thank you for teaching me something new!😂 I drink prebiotic drinks because they taste good and I believe they are good on fiber? … I should read up on this.

MemberMay 20, 2026 at 10:10 pmMy muscle cramps around the bowel and bladder are mind blowing.. I’m on Cymbalta and gabapentin and I supplement with THC Gummies about 25 mg every two hours.<div>
</div><div>I’m trying a lot more behavioral therapy, like learning the new signals that my body is giving me when it’s time to go. The only thing I know of that will calm that spasm is to smoke THC in two puffs it has backed off and you can sit up straight in five paths you can walk..</div>-

MemberMay 21, 2026 at 2:40 pmSorry you have been dealing with this! Bladder/bowel issues can be extremely frustrating. I’m glad you are taking the time to listen to your body to know how to respond. It’s not easy. Have you asked your doctor if there are any contradictions by taking all of those at once?

MemberMay 25, 2026 at 7:26 pmYou are right Arelis, spasticity is a tough one. I too Ben am trying to decide how much of the Baclofen and Tizanadine to take. Right now I am going to back off some of the Baclofen to see if it is really helping.
