    In this podcast from the BBC World Service called ‘Science in Action’ has Prof Lesley Lyons of the Uni of Missouri proposing that cats would make a suitable intermediate subject animal for genetic research. [16.38 in] Because of the genetic similarities between cats and humans. For the benefits of both species.

    She points out that much of the deep genetic research is still carried out in mice. And this hardly results in outcomes that work in humans.
