Scientists ‘re-train’ immune system to prevent attack of healthy cells
This news piece from UK Science Daily [June 9] reports research from the Uni of Birmingham that’s fascinating. Apologies to our news section if they have already done so and I’ve missed it!
Already peanut allergies are being dealt with by giving patients shavings and slowly building up their tolerance. Now, in a far more deeper sense this methodology is being applied to MS to stop the immune system from attacking the proteins in myelin.
As ever this is very early days research but if it was in any way effective one presumes it would have very few [if any] side effects!
Do you find research like this interesting?
