If I was to speak to someone who was just diagnosed, I would say to them: “Be angry. Let it out. Be angry.”
I saw an interview a while back with Christina Applegate where she told the interviewer she’s not going to accept her diagnosis.
And I felt so relieved that she said that because a lot of times people say, “OK, well now you have to live with it, and now you have to accept it.” And I don’t want to accept it. I want to be angry at it.”
I think angry is what keeps our voices heard. Angry is what will lead people to help us find a cure or find better ways to deal with it. So if you feel angry in that first moment of how much your life has changed, be angry.
