The National Multiple Sclerosis Society will receive an annual sponsorship from Showers Pass to support its efforts to improve the quality of life of patients suffering from multiple sclerosis (MS) as well as to find a cure for the disease.

Showers Pass manufactures biking clothes and material and supports the organization’s efforts, working closely with them on organizing Bike MS, a high-profile fundraising cycling event that takes place across the country.

Showers Pass president Kyle Ranson has been involved for several years in the support of several Bike MS initiatives, including the National MS Society’s MS 150 chapter in Houston and a fundraiser for Bike MS in Portland, where he serves as a member of the Board of the National MS Society’s Portland chapter. Now he has announced the decision to go forward and sponsor the organization at the national level.

“This is a cause very close to my heart,” Ranson said in a press release. “As a young man, I saw the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis firsthand as I watched a 20-year-old friend suffer from the disease. We’re thrilled to partner with the National MS Society and support critical research and resources for people affected by MS. And what better way than by going for a bike ride?”

Showers Pass’ funding will help the National MS Society in its efforts to support research and find a cure for MS. Among the initiatives spearheaded by the organization, Bike MS is one of the most important — a bike ride designed for cyclists of all abilities as well as people who want to have some fun and help the cause. The event gathers together about 110,000 participants annually who can participate in any of the 100 available courses in different locations all over the country.

“We couldn’t be more excited to announce our new partnership with Showers Pass,” added the National MS Society’s vice president of Bike MS, Gene Palumbo. “We are pleased to gain the support of such a reputable company to help attract new cyclists, expand Bike MS relationships in the cycling industry, and drive fundraising revenue to benefit people living with MS.”

Showers Pass is not the first company to join the initiative to support the National MS Society. Last September, the multi-billion dollar global ICT services and solutions provider Dimension Data was also able to raise over $130,000 for the Bike MS: City to Shore Ride in New Jersey, which brought the company’s total contributions to $300,000 from regularly participating in Bike MS events over the last 5 years.
