One of the more engaging ways to campaign for awareness and fundraising for a disease is hosting a sporting event. Be it a marathon, weight lifting, biking, or even ziplining, adding an element of fun in supporting a serious issue has been an effective approach in eliciting community involvement. For multiple sclerosis (MS) supporters in South California, however, clean, ordinary fun doesn’t cut it. The MuckFest MS Los Angeles Mud and Fun Run is back, with a new, more challenging, and more fun track and obstacle course. The run is scheduled to take place in Prado Regional Park, Chino, on Saturday, October 25, 2014, and will take runners through a course dotted liberally with mud pits, trenches, and craters to slip, slide, and fall into, thanks to built-in obstacles along the way. All of the proceeds of this event will go to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS), a New York-based non-profit organization with a mission toĀ help MS patients by funding research, increasing awareness, providing ongoing professional education, and offering programs and services for patients and their loved ones. Early registration is discounted at $80 and will open on Wednesday, October 8, 2014. Registration on the day of the fun run will be priced at $105. A special discount is available for groupsĀ of at least 4 runners. The registration fee is inclusive of a race bib, MuckFestĀ® MS shirt, one beer, one pass to the MuckFestival, three passes to the Li’l Muckers area, and exclusive photos at the event. To register, simply log on to the NMSS website.
