2015_am_agendabannerThe Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers (CMSC) has announced that its next annual meeting will be held in 2015 between May 27 th and 30th at the JW Marriott Hotel in Indianapolis, Indiana. The 2015 Annual Meeting of the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers aims to gather healthcare professionals as well as researchers working on multiple sclerosis (MS).

The four-day event will provide professionals with the latest data and most updated information on MS research and clinical care. The diverse panels will address questions referring to the areas of basic and clinical research, disease modifying treatments, and new and emerging therapies, as well as epidemiology, genetics, epigenetics, symptomatic care, immunology and pathophysiology, neuroimaging and biomarkers, rehabilitation, psychosocial issues, collaborative care, gender concerns, advocacy issues, and quality of life strategies.

“Our meeting is unique in bringing together all groups committed to improving the lives of people with MS: neurologists, radiologists, physiatrists, other medical specialists, clinical researchers, basic scientists, nursing professionals, rehabilitation specialists, mental health professionals, members of the non-profit community and the corporate supporters,” stated the CMSC on their event website.

At the event, health care professionals will be challenged to identify the key concepts of immunology and neuropathology involved in the disease, as well as the pathophysiology of MS, including, gender, ethnocultural origin, and other environmental factors, in order to tailor the diagnosis and manage it adequately. Assessment tools for cognition, depression and psychosocial issues will also be addressed.

The CMSC also announced that they will examine models of comprehensive care, including roles and responsibilities, and will study the complexity of the structures that support it. In the field of disease management, healthcare providers are expected to analyze mechanisms and evaluate monitoring measures. In addition, symptoms management will also be addressed, as well as appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.

Individualized interventions and monitorization from nurses will also be approached, in order to analyze specific nursing skills incorporated in patients and family care. The role and responsibilities of rehabilitation, as well as screening techniques that facilitate individualized and targeted rehabilitation services, is also a learning topic.

In addition to research updates, meeting and exhibits of the latest products, the event will also include roundtables, social and networking opportunities, team building, technological advances, and awards. “The CMSC is proud to partner with thousands of MS professionals who work in healthcare, community service, the pharmaceutical industry and professional education,” the consortium added.
