A&W Canada wants to beat MS ‘one burger at a time’ this August
Country music artist joins 17th annual fundraiser to support MS Canada

A&W Canada’s annual Burgers to Beat MS Day is returning for its 17th year to raise funds for MS Canada and its efforts to improve the lives of people affected by multiple sclerosis (MS).
As part of the fundraiser, A&W will donate CA$2 (about $1.45) to MS Canada for every Teen Burger sold across the country on Aug. 21.
Customers can also support the cause by rounding up their bill and making in-restaurant donations, as well as contributing online at BurgersToBeatMS.ca, through the A&W mobile app, or when ordering via Uber Eats.
“As a proudly Canadian company, we’re committed to supporting important causes that matter to Canadians,” Susan Senecal, president and CEO of A&W Canada, said in a company press release. “Each year, A&W franchisees go above and beyond in their communities for Burgers to Beat MS Day with fundraising traditions like raffles, car shows and live music that bring the community together. We look forward to Canadians joining us again on August 21 as we help beat MS, one burger at a time.”
Tens of millions raised since 2008
Since its inception in 2008, the event has raised more than $21.7 million (nearly $16M US) to support MS Canada, which provides various services to patients, caregivers, and affected families, and funds innovative MS research.
“Burgers to Beat MS has truly transformed lives across Canada since day one,” said Pamela Valentine, PhD, president and CEO of MS Canada. “The funds we raise together don’t just support research — they drive breakthroughs, expand access to vital support and wellness programs, and empower us to advocate for real, lasting change. Together, we’re creating a brighter future for everyone affected by MS.”
Canada has one of the highest MS rates in the world, with more than 90,000 residents living with the disorder. It’s estimated about 12 people receive an MS diagnosis each day in the country.
This year, A&W is partnering with Canadian country music artist Jess Moskaluke, whose father had MS.
“My family and I understand the impact the disease can have on the individuals living with MS and those around them,” Moskaluke said. “I’ve always loved supporting local and partnering with A&W and MS Canada, and Burgers to Beat MS Day allows me to support a well-loved Canadian business while using my platform to raise critical awareness and funds for all Canadians affected by the disease.”
On Aug. 7, A&W and Moskaluke will host a free public event at an A&W in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, the fundraiser’s birthplace and Moskaluke’s home province.
Guests will have the opportunity to meet Moskaluke, take photos, get autographs, purchase Teen Burgers, and win tickets for her upcoming show on the Life For Me Tour. Representatives from MS Canada will also be present to provide information about MS and accept donations.
“Every Canadian living with MS inspires our mission, and it’s incredible partnerships like the one we have with A&W, that amplify our ability to make positive impact,” Valentine said.
