Non-profit, MS News and Views (MSVN), which works nationally to increase education and knowledge about multiple sclerosis (MS), has announced the organization of two events during the month of October. For the first time, the organization will host two events with the exact same structure and theme, but at two different locations. As MS News and Views recognizes the need for MS education nationwide, the organization is extending its reach, with events in Michigan and Ohio next month.

On October 20th, Dr. Rany Aburashed DO, an MS Neurologist, will host a presentation on “How do we customize therapy, improve adherence and enhance quality of life for patients with MS?” The first event will take place at the Crowne Plaza Detroit in Novi, Michigan, and the discussion will include current disease modifying treatments, adherence, compliance, gait issues and MS relapse. In addition, Lisa Gonzalez Goetz, PA – disability attorney will also be present to discuss the Social Security Disability (SSDI) Law.

The second event will take place on October 22nd at the Cincinnati Marriott Northeast in Mason, Ohio. MS neurologist and researcher Aaron L. Boster, MD, is the main host of the event on the same topic, while Sarah Grim, MSW, LISW-S, a social worker at the Multiple Sclerosis Clinic will discuss the impact of MS on family and work environment. The two programs are made possible by education grants from Genzyme.

The educational events reflect the organization’s ongoing mission, which is to collect, present and distribute information about the disease through the publication of articles, videos and local and regional presentations and events throughout the country. All of MS News and Views’ events feature medical experts leading dynamic presentations and discussions, and are designed for both patients and other people interested in learning more about MS.

The events will touch on a wide range of topics, such as the management of the disease and specific problems that affect the MS community to improve knowledge, education, advocacy and service, as well as empower and enhance the quality of life of patients who suffer from MS. Last August, the organization hosted four events under the topics “Complementary & Alternative Therapies for Multiple Sclerosis,” “MS Medication Landscape,” “Eating Healthy for MS,” and “Managing the Invisible Symptom of MS.”

Registration for the programs begins at 5:50 pm followed by the presentations and a complimentary dinner for all attendees. MS Views and News is organizing all of the programs with support from Genzyme, Teva, NeuroScience and Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals.
