Coral Gables, FL MS Exchange Event This Saturday To Explore Relapsing MS Management
An interactive event in Coral Gables, FL this weekend will give relapsing Multiple Sclerosis patients who live in the area access to best practices and therapeutic insights that can help them better manage the disease. The Coral Gables MS Exchange event will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5, at the Westin Colonnade Coral Gables at 180 Aragon Ave., in Coral Gables.
According to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, RRMS is the most common form of the disease in the Multiple Sclerosis patient population, comprising 85% of the diagnoses. The flare-ups or exacerbations that characterize the relapsing form of MS present major lifestyle challenges for RRMS patients, who need to learn to adjust to the these relapses and utilize treatments that can reduce and minimize them. The Coral Gables MS Exchange event this Saturday will specifically explore the use of Genzyme’s Lemtrada as part of a comprehensive healthcare approach to managing relapsing MS and empowering those with the disease to live their lives on their own terms, in spite of the limitations that relapses can sometimes cause.
Speakers at the Coral Gables event this Saturday will include Dr. W. David Honeycutt, MD, of the Florida Hospital Neuroscience Institute and Neurology Associates, PA, in Orlando; Patricia Pagnotta, ARNP, also of Neurology Associates, PA — a board certified Nurse Practitioner who holds certification with AANN as a Certified Neuroscience Registered Nurse, and with IOMSN as a Multiple Sclerosis Certified Nurse and is also Secretary of the International Organization of MS Nurses; and Dr. Mark Cascione, MD, of Tampa Neurology Associates in Tampa, a member of the National MS Society Clinical Advisory Committee, and also the Medical Director of the South Tampa Multiple Sclerosis Center.
The speakers will discuss the potential benefits of Lemtrada for relapsing MS patients from different points of view, as well as help attendees evaluate treatment expectations and get tips on how to discuss treatment goals with doctors and families. There will also be a Q&A session. Free valet parking will be provided for all attendees as well.
